As a Dedicated Captain at Crew on Sea, you are assigned exclusively to a 28-meter yacht for a five-month Mediterranean season based in the South of France.
You remain attached to this vessel for the full duration of the contract and take full operational command throughout the season.
On a yacht of this size, you are responsible not only for navigation and safety, but also for leadership, planning, and maintaining operational standards across the entire crew.
Your responsibilities include:
• Full navigational command and voyage planning
• Docking and manoeuvring in busy Mediterranean marinas
• Ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and safety standards
• Technical oversight and coordination of maintenance
• Seasonal operational planning
• Leading and supervising deck and interior crew
• Managing communication with owners and/or charter representatives
• Ensuring punctual departures and smooth daily operations
• Maintaining professional onboard discipline and structure
Throughout the five-month season, you ensure continuity, stability, and high operational standards. You build detailed knowledge of the yacht’s systems, performance characteristics, fuel consumption patterns, and handling behaviour.
Unlike rotational roles, this is a fixed command position. Consistency is essential — both for crew management and for owner confidence.
You represent both the yacht and Crew on Sea in every operational decision.
Preparation & Onboarding
Before the season begins, you complete a structured onboarding process, including:
• Full technical walkthrough of the vessel
• Review of safety documentation and compliance
• System familiarisation and operational checks
• Alignment on owner expectations and seasonal itinerary planning
• Crew briefing and operational structure setup
• Alignment with Crew on Sea reporting standards
Strong independent manoeuvring ability and prior command experience are required before starting this position. The onboarding process ensures operational alignment and consistency — not basic training.
