As a Dedicated Deckhand at Crew on Sea, you are assigned exclusively to a 28-meter yacht for a five-month Mediterranean season based in the South of France.
You remain attached to this vessel for the full duration of the contract, supporting the captain and contributing to the safe and professional operation of the yacht throughout the season.
On a yacht of this size, deck operations require consistency, attention to detail, and teamwork. You are responsible for maintaining the exterior presentation of the yacht and assisting during all manoeuvres and guest operations.
Your responsibilities include:
• Assisting with docking and mooring operations
• Line handling and fender management
• Washdowns and exterior cleaning
• Teak maintenance and general deck care
• Preparing the yacht before owner or guest arrival
• Supporting guest boarding and water activities
• Assisting with safety checks and equipment readiness
• Maintaining organised deck storage and equipment
Over a five-month season, maintaining exterior standards is essential. You ensure that the yacht remains clean, polished, and ready for departure at all times.
Unlike rotational roles, this is a stable seasonal position. You develop full familiarity with the yacht’s deck layout, equipment placement, mooring routine, and operational rhythm. This continuity improves efficiency, safety, and teamwork on board.
You work closely with the captain and interior crew to maintain smooth daily operations throughout the season.
Preparation & Onboarding
Before the season begins, you complete a structured onboarding process, including:
• Full deck layout and equipment familiarisation
• Safety equipment location and usage review
• Docking procedure alignment with the captain
• Maintenance routine planning
• Alignment with Crew on Sea standards and reporting structure
A solid understanding of seamanship and mooring operations is required before starting this position. The onboarding process ensures alignment and consistency — not basic training.

In addition, you must:
